| Shanghai Song Jiang Industrial Zone (SJIZ) is the first municipal-level industrial zone approved by People's Government of Shanghai. It is 1ocated in the southwest of Shanghai and in the east of down town Song Jiang that is one--thousand-year o1d. SJIZ has a planned area of 30 square kilometers. It started operation in July 1992 and has developed an area of 20 square kilometers ever since. All the infrastructure facilities including water, power, telecommunication and so on have been equipped completely. By October 200l, more than 280 foreign-founded projects have been approved here, with a total investment of over US$3 billion dollars. 85% of those enterprises have finished construction and come into operation with an excellent economic performance. Among all the investors, more than 60 are world-famous multinational companies and 31 are listed the Fortune 500 corporations around the world.
Authorized by Peoples' Government of Song Jiang, Song Jiang Industrial Zone Management Committee implements unanimous administration over the whole zone with a complete set of service systems. Foreign Investment Service Company offers a whole set of services on project application, registration, modification, annual check and so on. The enterprises here can enjoy relative services and handle all formalities without going out of the zone.
Road:
Shanghai Wusong Port is 47 KMs away from the zone. Three l000-tonnage ports are within the territory of Songiiang.
Railway:
Shanghai Railway Passenger Station is 40KMs away from the zone. The main rail line from Shanghai to South China runs through the zone. A large freight organizing station is situated at the south of Songiiang town. The planned metro from Shanghai to Songiiang is under construction.
Highways:
Shanghai-Hangzhou Expressway runs along the north of the zone. High-grade highways of Xuxin Highway. Songmin and Husong stand by the zone. Tonsan State Way joins Shanghai-Hangzhou Expressway with Shanghai-Nanjing Expressway. Shanghai Outer Ring Road is on1y l8KMs away.

The zone is 20KMs away from Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport and 42KMs from Pudong International Airport,
Superior location
SJIZ and SJEPZ are both located in the southwest of Shanghai and in the east of down town Song Jiang. They are adjacent to Jiangsu and Zhejiang Province, being the gateway from Shanghai to south China.
Mild climate
The annual rainfall totals l1l7.1 mm with sunshine time of l947.1 hours and a frost-free period of 230 days The average wind velocity is 3.5 m/s while the average humidity is 83%. The average temperature is l5.4 degrees centigrade with the highest being 38.2 degrees centigrade and the lowest being-5 degrees centigrade. It belongs to a typical subtropical monsoon climate with adequate sunshine and four distinct seasons.

Being a culturally famous town with a history of over 1000 years. Song Jiang has always maintained its focus on developing education and training. Now, it has a modern university city composed of 6 universities, 2 colleges, 31 high schools, 28 technical schools and 6 vocational schools, offering abundant human resource. They can make it available for enterprises in the zone to recruit professional people of all majors and at different levels. Training services of all kinds of workers and staffs can also be provided. Road Roads have formed chessboard networks in the zone. The main road connects with Shanghai- Hangzhou Expressway. Roads in the zone total 40 kilometers long
Power It is supplied by East China Elect1icity Network. There are 220 KV and 110 KV source stations available in the zone. Four 35 KV substations are available in the zone, with a total power capacity of 240,000 KVA.
Telecommunication Two telecommunication rooms are available in the zone, with a telephone exchange capacity of 20,000 lines. They can also offer services like lDD, DDD, telefax, fax and other services. The enterprises can also apply for ISDN, ANSL, DDN services.
Water Sons Jiang Tap water Plant is responsible for the water supply, with a daily capacity of 270,000 tons. The water pressure is 3 kg/cm2.
Rain Drainage Rain drainage pipelines have been arranged on both sides of the roads in the zone. Rain can be discharged directly into Huangpu River to avoid rain accumulation.
Waste Water Wastewater in the zone is drained to Song Jiang Waste Water Treatment Plant for central treatment. The plant currently has a treatment capacity of 100,00 tons per day. At present another new plant is under construction in the zone, with a daily capacity of 35,000 tons.
LPG A liquefied gas storage and distribution station is available. Heat value reaches 25000Kcal/m3. The daily supply capacity is 300,000 m3. The supply pressure at exit is 0.8kg/cm2.(1 ton=2 m3)
