Scenic Spots & Historical Sites

Forestry Development:  Forestry area in Shanghai reaches 780,000 mu. In 2002, 215, 000 mu were afforested, among which preventive forestry reached 120, 000mu, fruit forestry 310,000 mu, nursery 183, 000 mu. Forestry coverage rate in city has been exceeded 12.2%, 1.8 percentage  point higher than the previous year. 200 million yuan for forestry has been invested by the municipal government, which has explored 1.3 billion yuan from the society. In all 1.5 billion yuan has been invested, the highest ever in Shanghai. Afforestration in Pu Jiang Town has been started. Tree Planting: A tendency of industrialized tree planting and afforestration has been formed. Combined with “six key ” forest construction, forestry is closely integrated with six sectors namely: young plants, roadside green, green land, preventive forestry, conserving forestry &  economic forestry. Construction for eco-forestry will mainly be invested by the government especially for coastal preventative forestry, water conservative forestry, pollution-prevented belt, green belt around the suburbs, backbone road and rive course forestry etc.

Water Hyacinth Treatment:  In 2002, main task for river treatment is to control water hyacinth.

Organization has been established in county and town so as to fix money, purchase equipment,  choose person capable. In autumn every year, lots of water hyacinth floats from the upperstream of Jiangsu and Zhe jiang Province. Each county has adopted various measures as much as possible to lessen the pressure of the scenic spots of HuangPu River and Suzhou Creek.

Livestock Farm Transfer: With the comprehensive management enhanced, livestock farms transfer has been started. 127 farms with a total of 0.56 billion yuan have been moved from Baoshan, Pudong New Area, Fengxian, Songjiang, Putuo and Bright Dairy Group to 20 counties and cities in Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shandong, Hubei and Inner Mongolian including 11 pig farms, 80 dairy farms, 35 poultry farms and one breeding pig farm with 120, 000 pigs , 8240 cow and 830, 000 layers..

Garbage Disposal: After three years’ efforts, project of “rural daily garbage collecting & disposal” has been fulfilled by 2002.Cleaning teams have been universally established in towns and villages with numbers reach 30, 000. 0.25 billion yuan has been invested to perfect various sanitation facilities and 500,000 people have been involved in beautifying the environment.
