Added Value of Secondary Industry: In 2002, added value of secondary industry in Shanghai suburbs is 97.632 billion yuan, up 16.04% from last year, accounting 3.9% increase of total Shanghai, occupying 38.07% of the city total and is 58.1% of the added value of three industries..

 

Industrial Structure: Shanghai suburban industry is developing in a diversified momentum. Companies of foreign-funded, private and other sectors share common development with industrial output value generated to 35.9%, 25.5 % and 38.6 % respectively.                  

 

Industrial Zone: 9 municipal-level industry zones approved by the local government have grown rapidly with an investment of 10 billion yuan in infrastructure. The zones have realized the standard to access water, electricity, gas, heat, road, telecommunication & sewerage etc. Among the total volume of suburban industry, industrial park occupies for about 18%.

 

Private Economy: A lot of work has been put in helping private enterprise develop its own practicability, scale & strength. Infrastructure such as, water, electricity and bridge in private economy zone have been accelerated. The 2.5 million-square-meter standard factories have been constructed. By the end of 2002, Shanghai suburbs have 177,300 registered private enterprises, up 28.4% from last year with new registered enterprises reached 40,000. Sales income has been realized to 317.696 billion yuan with tax revenue 14.126 billion yuan, up 52% from previous year.
