|  Hong Miao Farmer City (Hong Miao Town ), approved by Shanghai Municipal Government in July, 1986, is located in the eastern part of Fengxian County, which consists of 11 villages at the edge area of Fengcheng, Situan and Pingan three towns, these 11 villages were converted into the town in April, 1994. This Farmer City covers an area of 20 square kilometers with a population of 18,000 or so.
The establishment of a new town funded by farmers is a kind of pioneering work carried by Hong Miao People. In an short period of ten years, with self-fund of RMB 1 billions Yuans, one high-level planned and high standard new-type farmer Town, which covers an area of more than 80 square meters, has been erected, primitively forming the center residence area, holiday and tourism area, industry zone and touring and sightseeing area. These areas are with reasonable layout, complete facilities and beautiful environment. 
This town was graded as the civilized town of national villages & town culture construction in 1989, and in 1990, it was graded as national village & town construction model and in 1993, graded as trial model unit of national village & town construction by Ministry of Construction, and was listed as the trial unit of national small town comprehensive reform in 1996 and graded as one of “Shanghai Best Ten New Holiday Spots” in 1997.
Being taken as one of two wings of Fengxian County tourism development, Hong Miao Town’s tourism resources are rich; in town, there are so large numbers of different style and exterior-looking villas, which become the new scenery of town construction. There are other tourism facilities such as South Shanghai Water Amusement Park, Hong Fu Temple, Tong-Dynasty style street, South Shanghai Shooting Center, that make tourists enjoying endlessly pleasures. Hong Miao Town will become the new hotspot for residence and sightseeing.
