On October 1, 1958, Qingpu Town, Qingpu Museum was established where Qingpu County Temple housing the god of land was located, that is, at No. 650, Park Road. With a total construction area of 2247 square meters, the basic exhibition occupies an area of 1000 square meters. In August 1984, Chen Yun devoted his inscription of the museum name. The Exhibition Building built in 1986 according to the design of Professor Chen Congzhou from Tongji University. It’s a two-storey gable and hip roof ancient-imitation building. There are rich collections in the museum, including 2433 cultural articles, among which over 200 are the class-B precious cultural articles. The exhibition features the archeology, for example, Qingpu Ancient Culture and Qingpu Local History. The ancient culture exhibition exposes Songze Culture and Liangzhu Culture. There are over 250 cultural articles on exhibition from the new stone age to Qing and Han Dynasty, including three-person tomb, man & woman tomb, T-shape big pottery Ding, big pottery Dou carved with words, mat impression big pottery Guan , ivory bracelets, bird-shaped black pottery Hu, Pan Chi pattern big black pottery Ding,covered jar with high-handle , stone axe, stone flake ,Han (treasures put in the mouth of a dead person), Bi (ritual disk) ,jade necklace, Cong (rectangular body with ahollow tube of cylingdrical section),Qi (similar to the axe) ,belte hook and many other articles made of jade. The local history exhibition mainly introduces the history of Qingpu County, the ups and downs of Qinglong Town in Tang Dynasty, Qingpu teaching program and White-crane pond Pocket Knife Guild uprising and historical personages like Ren Renfa, Guan Daosheng, Wang Yin, Wang Xu and He Hongfang. The exhibits include Tang Dynasty picture ewer, unearthed in Qinglong Town, Yue Yao small tea cup, celadon oven and celadon bottle unearthed in Shiqian Village Songjin, jade sandalwood burner top, Duan inkstone ,tomb stone unearthed at Ren Renfa Tomb in Chonggu and record of events inscribed on atablet of Qingpu County in Ming Dynasty. There are also over 200 cultural articles including city bricks, the original handwriting, works, Male & Female Sword of Wang Xu, a famous scholar in Qing Dynasty, the prescriptions and calligraphy works of He Hongfang, a famous doctor in Qing Dynasty. It has held over 100 specialized exhibitions, such as Qingpu County Museum Books and Paintings Exhibition, China Dinosaur, China Ancient Corpses, Qingpu Unearthed Cultural Articles, Qingpu Cultural Articles unearthed from Gu Congli Tomb, etc. From 1959 to 1998, it has received 1.6 million of Chinese and foreign visitors, 7 surveys of cultural articles, 31 savings of key cultural articles. It has now 40 city or county class cultural articles preservation units and published 7 special works like Qingpu steles,tablet rubbings and stone sculptures, Songze Culture.
