An Overview 
Built in 2000, Jinshan modern agricultural park is one of the 12 first municipal-level modern agricultural parks. It has an area of 21.32 square kilometers, among which 13.28 square kilometers are arable land. The park’s chief industry is green vegetable and high-quality fruit peach production. In the district there is a nucleus part, six functional parts and an agricultural products exchange market. The park is a comprehensive agricultural development area combing the functions of producing, processing, demonstrating, promoting, technical research, and tourism.

Located in the north of Jinshan district, Jinshan modern agricultural park has convenient traffic conditions. Tongsan National Road run through the park, and there’s 320 National Highway in the latitudinal direction. It’s 35 minutes to Shanghai downtown, 45 minutes to the Pudong International Airport. The Garden boasts ring roads of 11.6 km, with the inner ring road connecting the various production sections.

The infrastructure of “seven connections and one leveling” has been completed with a total investment 80 million yuan. Current, the Garden has completed the construction of 400 hectares standard farmlands, 180 acres flower centers, 1000 cubic meters freezers, storehouses, office buildings, and 117,800 square kilometers large modern greenhouses.

Situated in the key waterhead protection region of Jinshan District, the Garden enjoys high quality waters. It belongs to a subtropical southeast monsoon climate which features in distinct season and abundant rainwater. The annual average temperature is 15.6℃; the annual frost-free period is 228.3 days; the annual rainfall is 1169mm; the annual sunshine time is 1975 hours. Its soil is composed mainly of sediments and alluviums with good physical and chemical features, which contain 3%-4% organic substance, 0.23% nitrogen, 0.07% phosphorus, and 2.2% potassium

The introduction of the park’s development:

In the latest 2 years’ development, the park attracts 21 projects, develops an area of 3.5 square kilometers with a total investment of over ten millions yuan. Both domestic and foreign projects have entered the park. These projects include the development and production of seeds and seedlings (flowers, vegetables, watermelons and musk melons), the processing of the agricultural production (vegetables, potatoes), the leisure and sightseeing projects (Guozheng Park), the production of standard pollution-free vegetables and the production and demonstration of special kinds of industrial crops (scent plant, snow red peaches, seedless grapes).

To promote the development of the high-tech achievement transformation, a branch center of science & technology achievement center on the municipal level is located in the park.

Key areas of future development: 1. processing of agricultural products. Approved by the relevant department, the park have established two processing zone with an area of 2 square kilometers. With the entrance of Shanghai Bailong Food corporation which is a Taiwan enterprise, the zone have stared operation. 2. research, development, and demonstration of flowers and potted landscape. 3. sightseeing projects and production and demonstration of special kinds of industrial crops. In consideration of its 60 km away from the downtown, the park is the best geographic position for the leisure and sightseeing agriculture.
