| Shanghai Minhang Modern Agricultural Garden is a municipal modern agricultural garden approved by the People¡¯s Government of Shanghai on 2000. Taking the development of modern agricultural science and technology and modern agricultural facilities as its foundation, the production, processing, and marketing of green, pollution-free agricultural products as its focus of development, and forest construction as a way to boost tourism, the Garden attempts to improve it ecological environment and realize to the maximum of its social, economic, and ecological benefits.
The Garden is located in Pujiang Town of Minhang District suiated within the boundary of the three towns Luhui, Duhang, and Chenghang. It has an area of 2,734 hectares, among which 1,743 hectares are arable land. The main road is Puxing RD (1 level road) and Sanlu RD. The garden is only 25 km away from People¡¯s Square, and the transportation within the garden is very convenient. In 2002 the total output value of agriculture is 103.05 million, among which 55.88% is planting, 3.91% is forest industry, 28.57% is stock farming, 11.64% is fishery.
Through three years development, the infrastructure has been completed and the environment has been optimized. After the phase-¢ñphase-¢ò phase-¢ó infrastructure construction, the Garden has completed ¡°seven connections and one leveling¡±, fully equipped with roads, electricity, water, gas, water-draining, sewer-draining, and telecommunication systems. It has also realized a complete set of standard farmland infrastructures. At present, it has a total road length of 88 km, 135km-long irrigation canals, 71 pumping stations, 45 sets of large-scale agricultural sheds, agricultural storehouses of 12,902 square meters, and an power capacity of 1,600KV. The eco-environment in the Garden is noticeably better than that of Minhang District on average. The main market of the Garden is hotels, supermarket, schools etc and our main products are pollution-free health food, hence the output value and the profit is several times than the average level.
The Garden has basically formed an initial pattern of modern urban agriculture. Till the end of 2002 92 enterprises have already been located here, with a total investment of 101 million yuan. Zhengyi limited company is most representative of them. The company have invested 5.1 million yuan with a total assets of 32 million yuan. In 2002 the total output value of is 81million yuan.
