| The Investment Circumstances of Baoshan District
Baoshan District is located in the northern part of Shanghai suburb, facing the Yangtze River on the northeast with Chongming County on the other bank. To the east is Huangpu River, with Pudong New Area across the river. On the southern border are Yangpu, Hongkou, Zhabei, Putuo four districts. It neighbors Jiading District on the west and Taicang City of Jiangsu Province on the northwest. The whole district is divided into two parts: land and island. It is 56.15 kilometers long from east to west and 23.08 kilometers wide from south to north, with a total area of 425.18 square kilometers.
Baoshan was Originally subordinate to Jiangsu Province. In 1724(second year of Emperor Yongzheng¡¯s sovereignty) it was separated from Jiading County and was built as Baoshan County. Later in 1958 the whole realm was designated to Shanghai city. In 1988 with the approval of the State Congress the organizational systems of Baoshan County and Wusong District were rescinded, on the basis of which Baoshan District came into being. According to the statistics of the administrative jurisdiction, the residence of the district totals 251,445, which amounts to a population of 740,881, among which the agricultural population is 205382. The majority of the population is the Han People, who takes up 99.69% of the total number. The Hui People has the largest population among the minorities. The jurisdictional area of Baoshan District encompasses Wusongzhen, Haibingxincun, Sitangxincun, Youyi Road, Tonghexincun five streets; Yuepu, Shengqiao, Luodian, Dachangbaoshan, Yangxing, Luojing, Luonan, Liuxing, Gucun, Qilian, Gaojing, Miaoxing, Songnan, fourteen towns; Changxing, Hengsha two townships.
The economic construction of Baoshan District has maintained a steady progress (growth), and the gross economic strength has been reinforced. Industrial outputs, export, commercial sales, market trade, agricultural by-products, agricultural infrastructure, have all maintained a growth and development. The infrastructure of towns and villages has been advanced on an all-round scale. The Yixian Road flyover project is in construction, which is the first of Shanghai city to attract investments from outside the district.The steady growth of the district¡¯s economy has promoted the coordinated development of social causes such as technology, education, hygiene, culture, mass media, nationality policy, endowment insurance, labor market supply-and-demand information, people¡¯s living standard and so forth. |
