The Investment Circumstances of Minhang District

Minhang District is active in developing new channels and broadening the scope of foreign investment, which has promoted the development of foreign-oriented economy. By the year 2000, the total number of foreign-invested enterprises has amounted to 1518, attracting contract investment 2.022 billion dollars, total investment 3.872 dollars. 94 of those enterprises have invested more than 10 million dollars. The development of foreign-invested economy has become a key component of the economic structure of Minhang District. In 2000, foreign-invested companies achieved a sales volume of 22.471 billion RMB, 6.3% more than last year and 54.7% of the total sales volume of the district’s industrial products. The total profit is 98,800 million RMB, 16.6% more than last year and 55.5% of the district’s total industrial profit. The total export volume is 1.129 billion dollars; tax income is 17.7% more than last year. Along with the expansion of reform and open-up, the optimization of investment circumstances, more and more enterprises of different countries and regions are willing to invest in Minhang District. Up till now enterprises of 40 countries and regions have invested in the district’s enterprises. Many Fortune 500 multinational and world-renowned companies have also invested in Minhang District such as German BASF, Japanese Holland ING Group, Korean Hyundai. After years of construction, Minhang now has three modernized industrial parks Xinzhuang Industrial Park, Mindong Industrial Park, Minbei Industrial Park which have rational industrial distribution, first class infrastructure facilities, and sound investment services mechanism.
