Pujiang Town under plan integrates residence, commerce and trade, holiday resorts, leisure and tourism. It is to be built in the Italian style of architecture. The aggregate social product of the Town amounts to RMB 6.3 billion, among which RMB 5.6 billion is from industry, RMB 250 million from agriculture, and RMB 450 million from service industry. The GDP of the Town reaches RMB 1.55 billion, with the primary, secondary and tertiary industry accounting for 3.9%, 88.9%, and 7.2% respectively. The revenue of the Town is RMB 275 million, among which RMB 65 million is under the direct control of the local government. The aggregate social consumption is RMB 1.25 billion and the total export volume reaches RMB 100 million. With agriculture as its pillar industry, manufacturing industry as its basis, and tertiary industry as its complement, the Town aims at drawing foreign investment of US$40-50 million. Efforts will be made to accelerate the development of the industrial zone in the east of Minhang District. A fund of RMB 3 million will be provided as a guarantee of credit loans to small, potential, science-and-technology-intensive, high-value-added, and production-oriented enterprises which conform to the state orientation for industry development. The planning and construction of the agricultural demonstration garden will be accelerated, with the focus on the south of the District for construction as well as functional development. Agricultural instruction centers will be set up in Luhui and Duhang to speed up the upgrading of agricultural machinery and tender invitation of more foreign investments. Work will be done to prepare for real estate development and commerce and trade development, the two new focuses of the economic growth. Besides, commercial locations will be readjusted for the creation of new businesses.
