     Peasant Silkscreen Woodcut

  On the 605-square-kilometer land of Songjiang, generations of cultural famous people have been cultivated. At present, a batch of educated young and middle-aged peasants have created Songjiang peasant silkscreen woodcut, their own unique peasant art.

    Songjiang peasant silk screen woodcut was developed from the ordinary model of the original peasant drawing. By making use of modern sensitization technology and integrating folk traditional art, it reflects the countryside view and happenings familiar to the artists and expresses peasants¡¯ love toward a peaceful life. The picture is to pursue for likeness in spirit rather than mere imitation of the reality. Adequate exaggeration and omitting are made to seek for beautiful natural integration boldly. They are simple, unadorned and unrestrained, they form a folk art particular to the water village in the countryside of the region south to the region of Yangtze River. It draws attention of the fine arts circle and finds favor in people¡¯s eyes.
