Nanhui is located in Pudong of Shanghai. To its east is the East Sea and to its south is the Hangzhou Bay. It has a plain hypsography and fecund soil, the seasons are trenchant, so products abundant. The total area of Nanhui District is 688 sq.km., and the coastline here is 45 kilometer's long. The district has 14 towns and 4 economic developed regions.

By adjusting the industrial structure, the agricultural gross product of 2002 is 2.06 billion yuan and the foreign exchange income is 128 million yuan. Melon and juicy peach have become the predominant products of planting industry. Five big production bases of pickles, bean, corn, vegetable and flower have come into being. Our annual production is 260 thousand tons of melons, 40 thousand tons of juicy peach, 24 thousand tons of pickles, 20 thousand tons of beans, 30 thousand tons of corn, 600 thousand tons of all kinds of vegetables and 4.8 million flowers. For cultivation industry, six big production bases of pig, bird, egg, milk, fishing and so on have been constructed. Our annual production is 623 thousand pigs (28.9 thousand exported), 20.2 thousand tons of eggs, 40.4492 million birds (6.502 million exported), 25 thousand tons of milk, 6 thousand tons of seafood and 18.5 thousand tons of freshwater products. The production value of cultivation industry is 1.08 billion yuan.
