Affiliated to Shanghai Agriculture & Forestry Bureau, Shanghai Seed Industry Group is the first collectivized seeding enterprise in Shanghai with the total asset of RMB 300 million. Currently, the group possesses 15 wholly-owned or holding subsidiaries with different functions in the same industry. All of them are mainly engaged in five business fields of seed (seedling) development and breed, flowers yield and operation, forestry greenhouse engineering design and construction, international trading and assets operation and management, forming a complete industry chain of research, production, sales, lease and delivery.

As the parent company for Shanghai Seed Industry Group, Shanghai Seed Industry (Group) Co., Ltd undertakes the flowers sales and assets operation for the group with the registered capital of RMB 100 million. It was entitled as one of the first "Key Backbone Enterprises for Agriculture Industrialization in Shanghai" after approved by Shanghai Agriculture Industrialization Office in October, 2002.

At present, the group company has 8 flower and forest seedling research and production bases with the total area of 360 hectares, where installed 23 hectares smart greenhouses introduced from Holland, France and made in mainland with state-of-the-art equipment for automatic seeding, seed processing, mechanical graft, steam sterilization, stroma production and accelerated seed fresh keeping. Meanwhile, the group company employs about 200 technical and administrative personnel with the education level over junior college and establishes a seeding research and development team led by researchers, doctors and postdoctors. Up till now, the group company has already acquired over 40 technological achievements, fostering a batch of new crop species (series) of independent intellectual property, like cucumber, melon, sweet (glutinous) corn and keeping a hundred of germ plasm resources. The group company has also presented some prevalent flowers, like anthurium, lily, carnation, tulip, bromelia, euphorbia and carnation seedling and chrysanthemum seedling with high reputation both at home and abroad. The annual production capacity of factory seed raising and seed fostering by group reaches at 50 million pieces and 10 million pieces respectively. The "localized" greenhouse, forestry conceptual design and construction have already been accepted by market even to the whole country.
