The 5th Meeting of China-Russia Subcommittee of Agricultural Cooperation Held in Dalian

On August 21, Vice Minister Qu Dongyu and Russian Deputy Minister of Agriculture Sergei Levin co-chaired the 5th Meeting of China-Russia Subcommittee of Agricultural Cooperation in Dalian, Liaoning Province, and signed the minutes of meeting. Before the meeting, the two sides held a small-range talk. Qu and Mr. Levin held a disscussion  and reached consensus on some issues of mutual concern.

At the subcommittee, the two sides exchanged views on cooperation in various areas such as agricultural investment and trade, animal and plant quarantine, veterinary, agricultural science and technology, and agricultural infrastructure set up, with the focus on the Agricultural Development Plan for Northeast China, Russian Far East and Baikal Region, which will be signed during the 4th Eastern Economic Forum in September after disscussion and modification.

Qu expressed that China and Russia enjoy strong agricultural complementarities and broad prospects for cooperation. Through formulating agricultural development plans, the two sides can clarify respective advantages and make a arrangments for agricultural industries and agricultural products markets in the eastern border areas of the two countries in a reasonable way so as to better complement and benefit each other. Qu hopes that the two sides will take the opportunity of formulating and implementing the agricultural development plan as a new opportunity to continuously expand and improve cooperation for the benefits of the two peoples. 

Mr. Levin fully agreed with Qu on his opinions and suggestions. He believes that strengthening agricultural cooperation between Russia and China is of great significance to promote agricultural development in both countries and improve the well-being of the two peoples. The Russian side is willing to work together with China in order to deepen exchanges and cooperation in all areas of agriculture and promote the common development of agriculture in the two countries. 

On August 21, Qu attended the 2nd Meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission for Cooperation of the Northeast China and the Far East and Baikal Region held in Dalian during the same period of time.
