On July 31, the third meeting of the China-Japan Agricultural Cooperation Working Group was held in Beijing. The two sides first introduced agricultural and rural policies respectively and listened to the reports made by the Agricultural Science and Technology Cooperation Working Panel and the Veterinary Cooperation Working Panel and exchanged in-depth views on sustainable agricultural development, plant protection, and globally important agricultural heritage. They also discussed and reached consensus regarding the China-Japan Vice-Minister Level Dialogue on Agriculture and topics of the China-Japan-Korea Agricultural Ministers’ Meeting.
On the basis of full consultation, the two sides signed the Minutes of the Third Meeting of the China-Japan Agricultural Cooperation Working Group and agreed to focus on strengthening agricultural exchanges and cooperation in the areas of animal health, environment and climate change and prevention and control of cross-border pests and diseases. They announced the establishment of the Plant Protection Working Panel and proactively discussed the establishment of a Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Working Panel.
After the meeting, delegates visited the National Agricultural Technology Innovation Park and the China-Japan Agricultural Technology Research and Development Center of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences.
