Mr. Wu Hongyao Meets UAE Deputy Minister of Climate Change and Environment Elsayed

Mr. Wu Hongyao, member of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Leading Group of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, met with Mr. Elsayed, Deputy Minister of Climate Change and Environment of the United Arab Emirates, in Dubai on September 10. The two sides exchanged views on deepening China-UAE agricultural cooperation. 

Mr. Wu noted that the Memorandum of Understanding on Strengthening Agricultural Cooperation Between the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of the People’s Republic of China and the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment of the United Arab Emirates, and the Memorandum of Understanding on Jointly Promoting the Building of Wholesale Markets for Agricultural, Livestock and Fisheries Products Between the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of the People Republic of China and the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment of the United Arab Emirates, which were exchanged under the witnesses of the two heads of state, should be fully implemented. Wu suggested that the two sides should establish an agricultural cooperation working group, strengthen cooperation in agricultural technology, human resources development as well as investment and trade, and push forward the building of the agricultural, livestock and fisheries wholesale markets as soon as possible. 

Mr.  Elsayed fully agreed with the Chinese side on the above suggestions. He expressed that the United Arab Emirates is willing to work with China to further deepen China-UAE agricultural cooperation, and give priorities to building the wholesale markets.

During his visit in the United Arab Emirates, Mr. Wu also met with officials of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China to the United Arab Emirates, and made a brief introduction on the developments of China’s policies of agriculture, rural area and farmers.
