Minister Han Changfu Meets Minister of Agriculture of Russian Federation Patrushev

On November 8, Minister Han Changfu met with Mr. Dmitry Patrushev, Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, in Beijing and the two sides exchanged their views on China-Russia agricultural cooperation.

Minister Han Changfu pointed out that, agriculture in China and Russia, with distinctive characteristics and high complementarity,  enjoys great potential for cooperation. In recent years, through the mechanism of the Subcommittee of Agricultural Cooperation under the Committee of China-Russia Prime Minister's Regular Meeting, the two sides have carried out productive cooperation in areas of agricultural trade, agricultural investment, animal and plant quarantine, fisheries, and agricultural science and technology and achieved fruitful results which consolidated the foundation for the further development of bilateral agricultural cooperation. Minister Han also stated that the Chinese side is willing to work with Russia to innovate new ways of cooperation, fully implement the consensuses reached by leaders of the two countries and put into place the instructions they have raised. The Agricultural Development Plan for Northeast China, Russian Far East and Baikal Region, which was recently signed by the two sides, shall be translated into specific actions and plans so as to further strengthen China-Russia cooperation in soybeans, processing of agricultural products, warehousing and logistics, and push agricultural cooperation between the two countries to a new height.

Mr. Patrushev spoke highly of the achievements realized in China-Russia agricultural cooperation and fully agreed with proposals for strengthening bilateral agricultural cooperation put forward by Minister Han Changfu. According to Mr. Patrushev, Russia boasts favorable conditions for developing agriculture and high-quality agricultural products, thus agricultural cooperation between the two countries enjoys a bright prospect. He hopes that the two sides will make new progress in the bilateral pragmatic agricultural cooperation.
