Vice Minister Qu Dongyu met with Jaana Husu-Kallio, Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Finland, in Beijing on January 8 and the two sides exchange their views on deepening China-Finland agricultural cooperation.
Qu expressed that China and Finland enjoy traditional friendship. Especially during President Xi Jinping’s visit to Finland in 2017, the two countries declared to establish the future-oriented new-type of cooperative partnership which will create broad prospects for China-Finland agricultural cooperation. He appreciated the positive progress achieved in the development of agricultural cooperation mechanism, agricultural trade, and agricultural science and technology cooperation between the two sides in recent years. He pointed out that China-Finland cooperation platform for agricultural development and innovation is a key and important link for China-Finland agricultural cooperation. The development of the platform needs guidance and planning of the two governments, technical support of scientific research institutes and active participation of enterprises of the two countries. He also expressed his hope that the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Finland and industry associations play a bigger role in encouraging, supporting and recommending more Finnish enterprises to participate in the development of the platform.
Kallio said that Finland has attached great importance to developing agricultural and cooperative partnership with China and is ready to actively promote bilateral agricultural trade and the development of China-Finland cooperation platform for agricultural development and innovation so as to push forward agricultural cooperation between the two sides.
