Vice Minister Zhang Taolin met with Gian Marco Centinaio, Minister of Agricultural, Food, Forestry Policies and Tourism of Italy, in Beijing on January 22 and the two sides exchanged views on strengthening China-Italy agricultural cooperation.
Zhang expressed that the Rural Revitalization Strategy put forward by China has created new opportunities for upgrading China-Italy agricultural cooperation. Agriculture in the two countries is highly complementary and enjoys great potential for cooperation. China is willing to implement the agreement on agricultural cooperation with Italy in pursuit of enhancing cooperation in areas such as agricultural science and technology, agricultural machinery, agricultural informatization and animal health and conduct promotional activities in various forms for agricultural investment and trade so as to create a platform for the cooperation and communication between bilateral enterprises, especially small and medium enterprises. Zhang also proposed that the two sides shall enhance communication and coordination on multilateral occasions such as FAO with the aim of making greater contribution to the sustainable development of world agriculture.
Mr. Centinaio spoke highly of China’s achievements in advancing agriculture and rural areas. He stated that Italy has attached great importance to the agricultural cooperation with China and is ready to actively expand cooperation between the two sides so as to push forward China-Italy agricultural cooperation steadily.
