Rural one-child families rewarded
 

The Shanghai Population and Family Planning Commission began offering rewards to rural residents who follow the city's family planning regulations over the weekend.

Annual rewards of 600 yuan (US$72.29) will be given to couples that meet certain criteria and have no more than one child. Both husband and wife must be born after 1933 and the male should be over 60 years old while the female should be at least 55.
