Livestock in Shanghai to Be Identified by Their “ID Cards”
 

In order to effectively prevent and curb such infectious diseases caused by the animal derived food such as “bird’s flu”, “mad cow disease” and “foot and mouth disease”, Shanghai Institute of Measurement and Testing Technology (SIMT) officially issued a local standard for The Unified Technical Regulation on Animal Electric Labeling, which will offer a unified fundamental technical guarantee for Shanghai to adopt world advanced “animal identification and tracing system” to closely monitor information about the breeding, medication, epidemic prevention, and transaction of each of the livestock, so as to further improve the safety of the city’s animal derived food.
