According to the statistics of some relevant departments, Shanghai currently consumes everyday 1,000 tons of meat, 10,000 tons of vegetables, 800 tons of eggs, 800 tons of aquatic products, 3,500 tons of fruits, and 1.2 million cut flowers. Every year, there are at least 40 special fairs of agricultural products from all over the country, with an order purchase volume of about RMB20 billion yuan. The city’s annual consumption of agricultural products is about RMB80 billion yuan, RMB6 billion to 7 billion yuan on average every month. The year-end market volume of agricultural and sideline products amounts to RMB10 billion yuan.
