A low energy consumption ecological office building of 3,000 square meters and a new ecological energy-saving community of 100,000 square meters will soon be built on the Chongming Island, the former representing the world’s leading technologies and the latter to become a model for the construction of new ecological communities in the rural area.

In addition, ecology-related demonstrative technologies have been emerging in the construction of the Chongming Island. Dongtan intends to conduct studies on the planning, design, and construction of demonstrative new rural communities; Chongxi is preparing for the establishment of a research and development center for wetland ecological protection technologies and of China’s first stork conservation center with international influence.
