Pedestrian trail to loop lake in Qingpu

A 3-kilometer pedestrian trail will open around Dianshan Lake in Qingpu District during the National Day holiday in October, the district's tourism bureau announced yesterday.

The trail will be connected to the Dianshan Lake Loop Trail, a hiking path the district began building at the end of last year.

The entire loop will run for just over 30 kilometers around the lake.

The first phase of the loop is expected to open to the public next month.

It will be paved with concrete, with several wooden plank pathways running alongside the main trail.

The project also calls for the construction of a 7-kilometer-long bicycle trail along the lake.

The entire trail is expected to be completed and ready to open to the public by the time the 2010 World Expo opens in the city, district officials said.
