The Three-year Action Plan 2006 of Clean Environment Standardization Construction in Shanghai’s Rural Areas has started implementation, as a result of which the dirty, disorderly and backward rural areas will have a new look to some extent and 400 “clean and tidy villages” will be built within the year. Shanghai will spend about 3 years transforming the 1,914 villages in its 9 districts and 1 county into clean and tidy ones that meet the set standard.
