Staying in a wood hut in an orange garden, enjoying river fish in a farmer’s restaurant, finding delight in angling, visiting happy farmers’ homes, and touring the yacht wharf…, by the end of this year, tourists will have had a new destination in Shanghai’s Nanhui District — the “Yulewan Eco-Garden” with “fishing culture” as its theme.
In the next several years, a modern urban agricultural framework featuring “one core area, two belts, and multi-gardens” will take shape in Nanhui. “One core area” takes the modern agricultural gardens, Laogang Town and Datuan Town as the kernel and effort will be made to build a quality modern urban agricultural area. “Two belts” refers to the two industrial belts with Hulu Highway and Lianggang Avenue as the axle, and the towns along the belts such as Liuzao Town, Xinchang Town, and Shuyuan Town as pilot ones for the modern agricultural zone. “Multi-gardens” consists of such theme agricultural gardens as the Modern Circular Agricultural Ecological Garden, Yulewan Ecological Garden, Demonstration Garden for High Agricultural Science and Technology, International Ecological Agricultural Garden, and Shanghai Taobo Garden.
