Currently, the Edible Farm Product Inspection Center of Qingpu District has been granted the recognition of the national level laboratory, capable of inspecting 26 parameters in 5 major categories, including the residues of agricultural chemicals on vegetables, melons and fruits, farmland irrigation water, compound fertilizers, and organic fertilizers. The inspection level and speed have achieved the international standard, keeping pace with such developed countries and regions as the USA and Canada. This year, the inspection center also undertakes such programs of the Ministry of Agriculture as “residue of agricultural chemicals on edible farm products” and “testing soil for formulated fertilization”. At present, it is conducting an inspection on 4,000 soil samples and its service radiates to the East China region and the country as a whole.
