It is learned that Shanghai’s agricultural standardization is constantly improving. Currently, the city has worked out 22 standards for its quality agricultural products in terms of safety and hygiene, established 206 agricultural standardized demonstration zones (farms) at various levels, and certified 319 agricultural products of different kinds, creating over 100 brand names of well-known agricultural products.

This year, agricultural administrations at the municipal and district levels have invested RMB4.5 billion yuan, a 17% increase over the previous year. A total of 830 thousand mu of equipment-facilitated farmland and 100 thousand mu of equipment-facilitated vegetable land have been completed. Currently, the city has 438 leading industrialized enterprises and 435 specialized farmers cooperatives, bringing along 450 thousand farming households. In addition, the city has intensified its effort in the prevention of major animal epidemics and plant pests. Due to the appropriate measures taken, there have been no such major animal epidemics as the bird flu breaking out this year and the unprecedented rice planthoppers is also effectively under prevention and control.
