Zhonghong Village in Jinshan District of Shanghai: A Village Full of Charm

Zhonghong Village in Fengjin Town of Jinshan District in Shanghai recently won the title of “China’s Top Ten Charming Villages”.

It is learned that Zhonghong Village, located at the north of the ancient Fengjin Town, is the home of the farmers’ painting in Jinshan District. During the 1960s and 70s, villagers here integrated such folk arts as dying, embroidery, wood carving, and kitchen painting into their own paintings, reflecting with simple painting techniques the colorful rural customs in China’s south and the enthusiastic scene of working, all of which have contributed to the characteristic farmers’ painting of Jinshan District. Early in this year, Zhonghong Village was also selected by the China Village and Town Promotion Association to be one of “China’s Villages with Unique Features”.
