Pudong New Area should further strengthen its abilities to qualify for more international cooperation, contributing to the development of Shanghai and the Yangtze River Delta, Shanghai Mayor Han Zheng said yesterday.

The district should learn from advanced international technologies to save energy, protect the environment and relieve the intensive use of land, Han said.

It should also work out more innovative measures to improve government services, societal management and resource allocation, Han said.

“Pudong’s future is full of hope,”said Han, also the acting Party chief of Shanghai.

Han said more attention should be paid on young people as the future belongs to them. Society should guide the young people who rely on their parents to live independently, according to Han.
