Farmers’ Clubs Emerge in Shanghai’s Villages

Clubs for tea-drinking, reading, and body-building, which are originally found only in urban commuinities, now emerge in Shanghai’s villages. So far, there has appeared a total of 32 farmers’ clubs funded jointly by the district, township and village in Fengxian District, which function as such four sectors as a health center, a cultural & sports center, an education and training center, and a production and service center. It is estimated that by 2008 this district will have built over 170 farmers’ clubs, basically realizing the goal of each village having a farmers’ club.
