On September 16, the Forum on the Conservation of Yangtze River Organism Resources, themed “Conserving organism resources and Working together to Build A Harmonious Yangtze River”, was solemnly held in Shanghai. It was jointly launched by the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Water Resources, the Ministry of Transportation, the State Environmental Protection Administration of China, the State Forestry Administration of China, the people’s governments of Yunnan, Guizhou, Sichuan, Chongqing, Hubei, Hunan, Jiangxi, Anhui, Jiangsu, Shanghai, China Three Gorges Project Corporation, and the World Wildlife Fund, and co-sponsored by the Ministry of Agriculture and the Municipal People’s Government of Shanghai. Over 200 participants attended the forum, including Sun Zhengcai, Minister of the Ministry of Agriculture, Han Zheng, Mayor of Shanghai, Shu Huiguo, Vice-Chairman of NPC Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee, the leaders of relevant ministries, commissions and the 8 provinces and 2 municipalities along the Yangtze River, relevant academicians from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering, representatives from relevant international organizations, and the leaders of the relevant competent departments along the Yangtze River.
