It is learned from the recently convened “Working Conference on Aquatic Products of Shanghai 2008” that Shanghai has worked out a development plan for its recreational fishing destinations in accordance with the reconstruction of the standardized aquatic breeding farms and the adjustment of the industrial makeup. It is planned that by 2010, 40 fishing resorts of various sizes will have been built in the suburbs of the city. Meanwhile, the city will energetically support the development of ornamental fish industry and encourage the cooperation between leading enterprises in ornamental fish industry and fish breeders by means of catching the opportunity of the “International Aquarium Congress” to be held in Shanghai Ocean Aquarium. Besides, effort will be made to convene a successful “Shanghai International Leisure Aquarium Exhibition2008”, develop fishery tourism according to the actual geographical conditions, accelerate the cultivation of the leisure fishery market, and promote the development of the industry of leisure fishery, thus gradually building Shanghai into a distribution center and an import and export hub of ornamental fish in China.
