After launching “World Expo Rental Housing”, Shanghai Tourism Bureau made use of the tourism resources in the city’s suburbs and the profound folk culture there for the reception of the World Expo. It experimented the program of “World Expo Farmer Families” at Zhonghua Village of Langxia Town and Zhonghong Village of Fengjing Town in Jinshan District. On November 25, the first batch of “World Expo Farmer Families” demonstrative families was unveiled.

It is learned that the first batch of demonstrative families include “folk culture interactive family”, “rural snack making family” and “lotus game interactive family” in Zhonghua Village of Langxia Town and “Jinshan farmers’ painting family” and “Qinghai Huangzhong farmers’ painting family” in Zhonghong Village of Fengjing Town. The “folk culture interactive family” focuses on experiencing the rural folk culture and there tourists can paint facial makeups in Peking Opera and Western facial makeups, experience paper-cutting, make cloth-paste paintings and five-cereal paintings, apart from learning to extract lotus seeds and getting married in a wedding sedan. The “rural snack making family” focuses on making and tasting rural snacks and specialties and Lady Li, known as “the first chef of Langxia Town” can not only cook delicious dishes but also can make rural snacks excellent in color and taste and full of local culture. Tourists there can learn to make the snacks, have a taste of them or simply buy some snacks they like.
